4. Who woul be the audience for your media product?
my main and targeted audience is young teenage girls, it is also aimed at boys who are interested in the music that i am also representing. i have already given an example of my target audience which is shown below

My target Audience is young adults, aged from 16-21. The picture shown is a dancer named, Yazmin who is 20 years old. She studies at a university for dance in east London and teaches urban street dance as her job. Her hobbies are going out with friends, performing at shows and going clubbing, she goes to clubs which play and have artists who perform urban music.

Her fashion style and makeup styles all match the urban dance music theme, she shops in different places such as urban outfitters in London, Camden, JD, Topshop and many more. All of these shops are very unique which is part of an urban group. Dancers all usually specialise to dance to urban/dance type of music, this is because it is modern and is liked my many young teenagers. Yazmin is a very clear example of a young adult who is interested in urban music, in many different ways, this is by enjoying, concerts, clubs and dancing to this type of music.
She is a very confident type of person to dress and act involving urban music, her clothing is very unique and expensive as they are up to date fashion and sometimes made specially for a specific person.
Yazmin is only interested in urban/dance music. She has starred in Channel U videos which play and show urban music. She attends concerts with artists who perform urban/dance music with friends. Her favourite artists, for example, Donaeo, Rihanna, Keri Hilson, Solange Knowles, Keisha Cole, Brick 'n' Lace, Kevin Little, and many more. However, she is also open and introduces a lot of different types of music, including, RnB, some pop, and Funky House.
She finds all urban performers attractive, and has many idols of where she gets ideas for being unique, fashion sense and including dance.
Yazmin watches many different music channels, and especially MTV as they have dance shows regularly.
Yazmin is a really good example and representation of who my target audience is as her style is classed as unique, funky and fun. She is happy and very determined in dancing to urban music and representing them as a good type of genre of music. With my magazine i want to create a young adult themed, unique and modernised magazine that will attract a person that has all these personality traits i have shown about Yazmin. I want my magazine to represent and appeal to people about urban music and the fashion side too.
3. What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
There are many different institutions which could possibly distribute my media product but the main one which I have researched and analysed thoroughly is Vibe Vixen. They are unique and also represent the social group, Urban/R’n’B. Even though the magazines we have are different to each other they use the same type of target audience and people to model on their magazines from the way they dress and from what they are known as in the music industry. They are all the same and contrast with each other. They distribute their magazines all differently and have different styles on each magazine they produce but they keep the same styled headings on each of their magazines to classify and represent them as their own institution which is Vibe Vixen.
2. How does your media product represent particular social groups?
The ways in which my media products represent particular social groups is stated and shown very clearly by the different types of conventions, images, fonts, and the way my main text is placed around my images. My social group is Urban themed and this is all shown and represented within my magazine products very clearly on a whole. For example on my front page I have a young but well known comeback music artist which represents the urban life, my main heading of the magazine also represents Urban groups as the heading associates with it being ‘Urban Air’. This is a clear example and representation of my social group. There are over features I have used such as the style of my writing and the colours, these are all different and separate themselves from other music magazines such as Q and NME which have different conventions to represent and attract their social groups as a whole. On my magazine I also have separate pictures which are lined and associated with the main image artist and this is very important to represent my social group, Urban, as fun, young, and ‘hyped’. The ways in which I have worded pieces of text I have place upon my front page, contents page, and double page spread also represent my urban social group.
1. Double Page Spread

there are many different ways in which both media products shown above challenge forms and conventions of typical magazines and they both attract the same audience but in different ways. For instance, for the Self Obsession magazine it is very plain with a split of only one magazine on the left hand side of the spread whereas mine goes across in a different way with bright colours, images but uses the same similar conventions as the main heading about the article is bold and stands out from the magazine overall. The text used is also different in both the double page spreads as in most magazines the main heading about the article on double page spread goes across the page whereas on these magazines they are placed differentlly in different areas. as you can see from the last media products i have shown they are all quite plain and standard which obviously attracts a speicifc target audience whereas my conventions are similar but much more visible and eye catching.
1. Contents Page

next i will be explaining in what ways the media product contents page shown and my media product develop or challenge forms and conventions of media products. Firstly i find that the magazine product contents page has very different themes, firstly my contents page is very bright and bold with other images than the main one whereas in the real media product there is only one image and this is the main model, the text is small but makes it seem sophisticated and brings the main attraction to the model. there is all the main heading conventions of a typical contents page which is the same as mine also.

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
There are many ways in which the front, contents page, and double page spread of my media products was used to develop, challenge the forms and conventions compare and contrasted to other real media products.
Before I started designing and planning my media product I researched specific magazines which have similar conventions and systems of how they attract their target audience.

Before I started designing and planning my media product I researched specific magazines which have similar conventions and systems of how they attract their target audience.
The first front cover magazine I found was a magazine called Vibe Vixen, this is shown below.
as you can see from the two magazines below, the one on the left is a real media product called Vibe Vixen and My final media front page product on the right. They both follow many of the same conventions and challenges such as the pugs placed in the top hand corner with a free gift placed on the top.
They both have bold and text which stands out, this also includes bright colours which also stands out to the audience. The text such as the heading is big and takes up most of the page for the vibe vixen magazine, and mine is placed at the top also and is rather big. Going on to the main image which is the vital convention which captures target audiences attention, as you can see vibe vixen uses a famous music artist 'Rihanna', who also matches the theme of the front of the cover as the colours contrast with each other well. This also apply's to my magazine as the clothes she is dressed on matches the colour scheme of the magazine overall. Vibe Vixen fits all there conventions in very well and it is also the style for their to be different fonts and lettering which is all sized different, this is how they attract their particular audience and separate their magazine from other typical magazines. my magazine also does this by the matching 3 but bright colours which also include a different variety of fonts which also fit in well and attract the target audience i was looking to attract. The way that Vixen Vibe positioned their text around the main image of 'Rihanna' is a challenging form and convention which i have also done by placing my text to fit and separate it from the main image so everything shown is clear.
